Homemade Wipes Solution

One easy thing I do to help us save money is use cloth wipes along side my cloth diapers. What? What is that you say? It is not gross!!! It actually makes sense. I mean if I'm already washing diapers, wipes sure aren't gonna make a difference in my water or soap use.

I use the Thirsties Wipes (6 pack) , my wipes solution, and an old wipes box with a wide opening (I'm currently using an old Parent's Choice wipe box).

Simply pour a little solution in the bottom of the box, fold wipes in half and lay in box, pour more solution on top. I simply grab the number of wipes I think I will need and wring them out onto the other wipes before using them. These wipes will hold a lot of liquid and have one smooth side and one side good from cleaning up a mess. In the past I used cheapo Gerber wash clothes but these are soo much better!!! I definitely think they were worth the investment and plan on buying some more (I currently have 3 packs, 18 wipes).

Syd's Soothing Wipes Solution
  • about 2 cups hot water
  • about 1/4-1/2 cup plain aloe vera (make sure it does not have lidocaine or anything like that in it)
  • 2-3 drops tea tree oil
Thoroughly mix solution together it ensure the aloe vera is not clumpy (I put mine in a quart sized canning jar with a plastic lid and shake it well. It then stores in the same jar with a label under my kitchen sink so no one confuses it with anything else.)

What are some things you do to save money?
